PREMIERE: Ben Kaczor - Tabula Rasa [Crescent London]

Ben Kaczor is no stranger to us here at Delayed. After listening to, playing and following his musical progression through the years, we finally had the opportunity to meet properly this past summer at Above Below. The ensuing conversations and time spent together only deepened our appreciation and respect for the young artist and his incredible talent. His music is deeply emotive, and contains a sort of restraint that’s not often seen or heard. All things we like to uplift on our platform.

Tabula Rasa is his latest musical foray that comes to us via the Crescent London imprint and their ‘Drifting Sands’ VA release. As the title implies, latin for ‘Blank Slate’ the tune starts off strongly with just bare percussion elements and a swelling, rhythmic synth. Establishing that all important deep groove that Ben is known for in his tracks. Progressing along sweeping pads periodically make their presence known, adding a tinge of sadness, and here we’ve reached the crescendo. The claps come in, a hands in the air moment that’s all too familiar but done tastefully as would be expected. Like a blank slate, the track is versatile and could do well in many a situation or style of set.

Ben Kaczor is joined by Daniel[i], Eric Cloutier, and Blazej Malinowski to round out the stacked ‘Drifting Sands’ VA which will be released into the world on September 12th.
